Practices with my students to my teacher's led primary, then ran 4 miles with my husbro and our dog. Feeling loved and loving life.

I came in and did primary, as one does before travel. Before long, the room was filled with heroes. Capes, masks. Justice League.
Batgirl, Superman, Thor, Flash, Aquaman, and many more. Also, one student dressed as @Jen_Rene ~~ I love, I love, I love.
I've been humbled and honored to share the yogic tradition as taught by Sharath Jois, the lineage of Sri K Pattahbi Jois with the #dcashtanga community... And I could not be more full of gratitude for the chance to share it with my student at the source. @livelyogini
Oh, look a that: I'll be teaching at the yoga co-op next month. Here's the question: What do y'all want? Led Primary? Tour of Intermediate? Or 1/2 & 1/2?
a) have you "liked" DC Ashtanga?
b) I'm back in the shala with Shwag April 10 🙂

This year, I received my teacher's blessing to teach Ashtanga Yoga. I've got a bajillion emotions. Thanks mom, dad, Sharath, and the other teachers who have supported my practice. And most especially, my best friend, partner, and teacher: Michael 🙂

The funniest thing I've read in a good while. Looking forward to teaching here soon!
If you are considering teaching yoga full time...
I've spent time this month with @[689010579:2048:Emma O'Neill], who helped sharpen my teeth in Mysore on my first trip. A major teacher for her, like Christine Hoar here, is Nancy Gilgoff.
The first 20 is essential for woman and men who associate with them. The 35 minute mark on sums up my occasional radio silence. The last 8 is for everyone.
"We are meant to be joyful beings. "
So, listen to get perspective on me or listen to get perspective on you.
Big love to @[1076864780:2048:Jen René] and Peg Mulqueen for their efforts here, and to Christine for her candor.

Tour of Intermediate at Stroga for the Yoga Co-op. Priced low, totally accessible. For those interested in mysore, this is a great opportunity to interface with me in a chill environment.
2 spots just opened up for 1/2 & 1/2 at LRY on 4/26. Reserve your space! http://www.tinyurl.com/MichaelJoelHallLRY
I'm the director of DC Ashtanga, an ashtanga yoga school (often called a mysore program). It's easy to talk about money when you've got it (and especially what it'd be like if ya didn't), but (like always) Ru gets its.
Join me at the Yoga Co-Op on Sunday at 3!
I'm pretty excited for our Tour!

Ashtanga yoga is a really, really simple technique for cultivating insight. If you'd like to know more about bringing deep peace, attention, and insight into your own life, please reach out. (**especially if you're interested and you've heard that it has anything to do with strange bendy shapes and think it may not be for you. I assure you, the practice is for absolutely anyone)
Kristen speaks to my body, heart, and soul. For those that love hath a yoga, you should know that Kristen Krash is exacting, clear, and a teacher's teacher.

Practicing post teaching. Because puppies.
Should we Periscope DC Ashtanga's Led Primary on Friday?
I've been asked by a number of practitioners at Flow Yoga about led primary. Nows your chance: see you at 6:30. (Next week, too)
WHY DOES YOGA AT WORK *work*? $300 billion a year is lost to burn out. $1 trillion in distraction.$ 100k for low back pain over the span of employment.ive been teaching yoga at federal agencies, Fortune 500 companies, NGOs, for the last 8 years. Folks just don't skip work on their yoga day... and it helps with chronic back pain -- chronic back pain being the second most common complaint a physician hears about next to the common cold. Catch me on Cox TV tonight talking with @jackiefell about yoga subsidies within the federal government. FOR EVERY DOLLAR SPENT ON WELLNESS A BUSINESS SAVES $3.
Retweeted Jacqueline Fell (@jackiefell):

Interested in my Connections: Hips, Twists & Binds with Michael Joel Hall workshop? We only have two spots left, so y'all betta hurry.
How is indentured servitude an appropriate way to keep costs low? Where is the labor union? The workers rights advocates? How are "bonuses" for numbers a way to encourage practice for underserved populations? Or to encourage advancement? Where are the professional standards? Shameful.

My friend Lizandra's been hospitalized with a cervical spine injury after a freak accident, leaving her hospitalized and unable to work.
If you don't know Lizandra personally, you may know her through her work. Not only is she a yoga student and teacher, she is also a Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Thai Massage practitioner who is passionate about helping people find their own way into holistic wellness in all aspects of their lives. She just moved back to Pittsburgh after living and teaching yoga in Haiti for 2.5 years, where she founded an amazing organization to introduce yoga as a transformational tool of empowerment to everyone, regardless of background and trains adolescents to teach kids yoga classes. Most recently, Lizandra enrolled in massage school so she can further her skills.

"Trini & Tristhana"
#tourof2nd #day1
The Ashtanga yoga practice as taught by Jois is a moving meditation, and for there to be a meditation there must be an object upon which the meditator meditates.
The looking place, the breath patternings, and the observation of balance are three facets of a singular jewel, and this jewel is called "tristhana". The tristhana is the object of meditation for the Ashtanga yoga practice.
The third vinyasa of the surya namaskara is done on an inhalation, and my teacher cues it by saying "trini! -- head up!" during led class.
Vinyasa means "to place in a special way", and since we're doing a breath and movement practice, we call linked breath and movements "vinyasa"
Memorizing the vinyasa count lets the mind settle and drop into attention on the bodies relationship with gravity.
Having a looking place settles the senses. I look at my nose in this posture, as it keeps me from wrinkling my forehead. I'm scared botox will mess up my third eye, so this is the dristi for me! Ha! ---

In DC, barbers are required to have 1500 hours of training to receive licensing. Tuition runs 9k-15k. We need to talk about "yoga teacher trainings."

If any Ashtangis would like to join the DCA Team for a workshop with Kristen Krash on Sunday at 3, please let me know. 🙂
Guys, I hear there's like one spot left!
