in imageI think one of the most wonderful books that Martin Luther King
wrote was "Strength to Love."I always liked it because of the
word "strength," which counters the Western notion of love as
easy. Instead, Martin Luther King said that you must have
courage to love, that you have to have a profound will to do
what is right to love, that it does not come easy.

in imageThere is too much unnecessary and violent
Shrapnel happening to our most marginalized
groups and total fear of reprisal in speaking up.
Heck, I'm scared too. But more than fear of
personal ridicule, I fear the unmitigated glee of
mob mentality, the kind that leads too easily to
dehumanization and the disintegration of our
collective moral compass-

As an empath, I struggle to find the words to articulate
my heartbreak for the rising toll of individual human
beings presently tangled in this risky, political power
play. Perhaps naively, I always envisioned progress as
an empowering endeavor, working towards healing and
understanding, with the goal of becoming a unified
nation. Our great strength & defining characteristic
ought to be in priding ourselves on protecting our most
vu nerable, rather than high-fiving as we dismantle
basic ethics and equality-

in imageSee you next time on "showbiz libtards with hot,
woke takes!" But speaking as an abused kid,
who's lived a lot of life, both on the skids and at

silent despite the awareness that these days.
it's increasingly risky to be honest & can lead to
muddled answers when caught off guard.

The call to split the TQ+ from the LGB is not new.
"Acceptable Gays" have tried to distance themselves
from Queers, Transgender and Non-Binary folks since
before those words existed. Yet, Acceptable Gays were
not spared in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s, no matter
how subtle, rich or famous they were. They still got
their ass beat, still outed and arrested under sodomy
laws, still lost their jobs, their names were still printed
in the papers, they still lost their homes under moral
clauses, still couldn't marry or serve. Acceptable Gays
still died of AIDS in droves.
Today's "LGB Gays" are not enlightened or
groundbreaking free thinkers, no matter what social
media says. They're clichéd bootlickers with no sense
of history. They believe this split would spare them but
our persecutors are just working their way backward
through the LGBTQ+. Those who hunt us always
come for the entire alphabet.

in imageI'm an artist. I'm not your plumber, pastor or therapi
I don't owe you my services and I don't always need to
care about your feelings. If I write, I don't need to tell
your story. If I sing, I don't always want to sing for my
supper. My comedy doesn't need to make you laugh
and my music doesn't need to make you dance. If my
art makes me wealthy and famous, I don't owe you a
discount or collaboration. If my art is unknown, you
don't get to measure its worth by audience size. My art
may talk about love even if I've never been in love. It
may preach kindness while I still learn to be kind. My
art may be flawless but I'm still imperfect and human.
I don't owe you anything other than your time if l
asked for it and your money's worth if you paid. My
debt is to myself, for the time of my life I spent
learning my craft. My gratitude belongs to the
universe, for sending itself a message through my
creations, for making me a vessel of the divine.

in imageROLE OF THE ARTIST
To fill in the gaps that institutions and
power structures of dominant culture
overlook or deliberately avoid:
• TRUTH when there are lies or silence
* CARE where there is neglect
* RADICAL IMAGINATION where there is
stagnation, dead ends, and repitition of
oppression
• LIBERATION where there is oppression
• CONNECTIVITY where there is isolation
& HOPE where there is despair
* SALVE for wounds
* ACKNOWLEDGEMENT for those who feel unseen

Immanuel Kant
In his early work, Kant embraced
German rationalism. In 1781, Kant
stepped back onto the stage with the
Critique of Pure Reason: shifting
the center of knowledge from the
world to the mind that knows it.
No longer was the mind a passive
mirror of reality. Instead, reality
always appeared through the
architecture of our perception.

in imageWhy great minds change
their own
These examples remind us that
true critical thinking begins at
home. To interrogate our own
assumptions, to stay open when
experience, dialogue, or
suffering presses against us —
that is philosophy at its deepest.
In our polarized age, where
doubt is mocked as weakness,
their lesson is urgent. Can we
welcome change in our own
thinking - even delight in it?
