On solstices and equinoxes we do a 108 sun salutations in the yogic tradition. During medaitation, when I'm silently spinning the beads on my mala, I have 108 beads before my guru bead.

But why? When one of my student's asked, I gave a few of the stock answers I knew off the top of my head (proportionate distance between the sun, most common denominators, etc).

Where Da Gold At?!

Geoffrey and I went down to the Dubliner, DC's oldest Irish bar/ restaurant, for some St. Patrick's Day themed food. I was craving corned beef & cabbage, and Geoff has his mind set on Shepherd's pie.

Rocks weren't the only things shammed on this trip. After a $10 cover charge just to get in ("come back tomorrow, it'll be free," says the bouncer) to the dining room, we were seated upstairs with super drunk woman in green pantsuits (and terrible makeup), as well as their stodgey 'til crunk white male counterparts.

The people watching was the best part: my meal came out tepid at best. I sent it back to get reheated. Geoff's shepherd's pie looked great, but apparently was only good.

I knew I could do better. Shepherd's pie is made with lamb or mutton, of which I found none-- today I instead made "Cottage Pie." I cut the meat down to a pound and threw in some yummy extra yellow onion and lots o' garlic.

This 1986 Interview with Dolly Parton from 60 Minutes... ahhh... How I love Dolly Rebecca Parton.

As a child? The snow and cold, cracks in the walls, cracks in the floor ...the snow would come through the floor boards. "...little snow dirfts like lines of coke in the floor."

Dear Mr. Mix-A-Lot,

When I was young, MTV wouldn't play your saucy, ass-laden video. Now, as anyone who knows me knows, I have an affinity for booty songs. Dirty, nasty, sing-songy booty songs.

I sing 'em at work. I sing 'em when I shower. I sing them with every bit of joy and mirth my tuneless, keyless voice will produce. Even friends know these songs by heart and will join in.

Why are you bastardizing my bliss?

is packing for two separate but equal trips: One for a four day camping trip and =music festival in the the Tennessee hills and another for a cross country road trip immediatly to follow. So much to do, so little time!

Lets see whats most revealing? I am tickled that "Donnie Darko" and "Catcher in the Rye" as well as Reading got such high marks amongst my friends.

The Radiohead is not unexpected. I am surprised, however, that I have so many gemini friends. Thats my sign 🙂
