Reaching Your Teaching Potential

In this lesson, we explore types of learning and action that help teachers to meet their potential.
Objective
Reflect on the ways that being a teacher is different from being a student and explore particular actions that can help you to meet your potential as a teacher.
Description
Reflect on how completely different the role of teaching is from being a student, even if you’re the best yoga student on the planet. Review particular actions that help to meet teaching potential and note how these are in contrast to a passive approach of receiving information as it crosses your path. Discuss commitments and strategies related to continuous learning. Describe how teaching is an act of creation and three commitments that can help to set a foundation for success. Explain deliberate practice vs. naïve practice and how this applies to teaching. Consider how planning and organization contribute to reaching your potential.
