The lies that fearful, closeted queer children internalize can become the fire that lights the way to truth. But the pain that is the air upon which it burns may heal but is not forgotten, and there is no lack of kindling-- injustice -- to burn, even in adulthood.

Cory's fire functions as a light, one that ably guides people onto a path of self love and acceptance. If we, as queer people, don't have our narratives shared, they will be erased and replaced by the more palatable mistruths of the powerful.
