“The senses are like a mirror. Turned outward, they reflect the outside; turned inward, they reflect the pure light. By themselves, the senses are innocent, but when allowed to turn outside they attract everything and transfer those messages to the mind, making it restless. Turned inward, they find peace by taking the form of the mind itself.” – Sri Swami Satchidananda
You are made of all things pure and awesome!
Paradoxically, creating boundaries around our energies can help to become less bound. To internalize the senses and go inward can be revelatory — it highlights how we’re using our energies... and what might be mucking them
up.
Some tips for keeping your energies tended to:
-practice fasting / taking breaks from sensory inputs via meditation, retreat or other. Go somewhere and get silent.
- make a mindful choice of media! Bad vibes in often = bad vibes out. Sensory impressions can be harmful! Listening to people talk shit can make you feel like shit.
- start tuning into that third eye— redirecting seeing can encourage other senses to follow. try to “see” with your other senses!
Later today, go outside and stare up at the sky! Let yourself get lost in the space between the clouds.
