The primary series of Ashtanga yoga is one of the most well-rounded and exacting practices you will come across in your yoga travels. It’s incredibly effective for getting folks grounded in the deeper dimensions of practice pertaining to not only the body but the mind. This series highlights standing postures, twists, forward folds, hip openers, binds, backbends, inversions and controlled breathing. Basically, everything. Since it’s a lot to digest, we’re gonna slow it down, take things apart a little, giving practitioners a chance to figure out how best to use their bodies to hone the mind. Not familiar with the entire sequence or ashtanga yoga? You will be guided through each pose with instructions that will include modifications to allow students at most levels to practice safely. For those that are familiar, we’ll seek out sneaky hidden gems, learn how to seamlessly use dynamic alignment through imagery, intelligent and functional biomechanics, as well as fresh cues to enliven your practice. Not for absolute beginners, but the pace will be suitable for most. Foundations of Flow Every flow yoga class is ripe for meditation and insight– but sometimes, the deeper dimensions of flow get lost in the rapid pace. In this workshop, we’ll help all levels of practitioner tap into their potential to move with grace and ease.
